The Marina

The Marina is a highly desirable enclave located at the northern end of San Francisco. It is bordered by the Presidio to the west, Fort Mason to the east, the San Francisco Bay to the north and Cow Hollow and Pacific Heights to the south. Built in the mid-920’s-1930’s, after the Pan-American Exhibition of 1915, it is comprised primarily of single-family homes, small building condominiums and apartments. Chestnut Street, the heart of the neighborhood, is frequented by both locals and tourists as it offers a large assortment of restaurants, retail shops and services – including an Apple Store, grocery store and two movie theaters. An abundance of outdoor recreational parks are nearby – including the Marina Green, Crissy Field, the Palace of Fine Arts and the Presidio with its newly opened Tunnel Tops park.
